Presentation : This site presents some aspects of my work in the fields of the traditional guitar, the composition and the writing. Autodidact essentially, I initially studied the guitar and very early started to write for my instrument; it is in addition that I discovered the possibilities offered by data processing as regards music. I am also member of the whole of mandolines and guitars of Mulhouse in Alsace with which I take part in concerts notament in France and Germany (Laurent Raynaud) |

Last 5 November, I was pleased to meet
Jean-Claude BAZIN former writer of the review Plectre and
current member of
the Unit Gabriel
Leone of the name of the large
virtuoso of the XVIII 2nd century old mandoline. During an
enthralling conversation, it was question of history of the
mandoline, topic on which Jean-Claude BAZIN is eminently a
specialist and that it divides with generosity. It sucite
not only the interest, but wakes up passion and the artistic
emotion, one realizes that well his research although aiming
at the authenticity seeks to touch this kind of emotion lost
with time, with the evolution of mentalities, the changes of
manners and in the manners of living. No doubt, the step is
artistic. The result: a series of recordings entitled
Five centuries of mandolines 1300-1800 which reveal
intruments (the guiterne is ravir) and of the musics, the
mandolines such as one do not imagine them. But the mandoline is a quite alive
instrument, at ease in its time, even if one can regret the
relative indifference of general public - those which know
it are not sulky their pleasure -; it was thus also question
of the instrument today, and the Unit Gabriele Leone puts
with relevance and artistic direction a point of honor at
soliciter and to play the type-setters of today. Their other
disc Fifth and direction of the Mandoline show at
which point the mandoline insprire the latter, but also all
the talent of the whole in a more recent repertory with
notament a History of the Tango of Piazzola which one would
say than it is made for the plectre. It is urgent to visit the site of the
Unit Gabriele Leone, in addition to a history of the
mandoline, one will find the events and concerts, of the
news of the unit, and the extracts of the discs which will
give surely desire for placing order.

- of Roland Dyens are cancelled or rather deferred to a
later date. The famous guitarist as we as well know for his
immense talent with the guitar as for its direction of
arrangement and the writing was victim of problems of health
at the time of his round. I hope that we will have very soon

Sigh D' Abu Abdallah El Chico

the music page. A new improvisation for the oud and

book . August 12, 2005: Last 12 July took place a recital of
Juan
Falu to the commandery of
Rixheim. The guitarist and Argentinian type-setter in round
in Europe gave with much heat some parts of his repertory.
The audience did not miss the occasion to make the voyage to
the sound of the guitar and of the voice in the very rich
folklore of Argentina, it should be said that the musician

part entitled the Sigh D' Abu Abdallah El Chico for
orchestra with plectre and oud, the title refers to the last
king maure of Seville, his escape towards Africa and his
regrets to have to leave his country. This episode marks a
turning in the history of Spain and shows the possibility
for the dark days which saw the rise of the Enquiry and the
exodus forced of the Jews. The curious ones will with
pleasure read the Last Abencerage de Chateaubriand
which puts in scene this last more known king under the name
of Boabdil. March 07, 2005: If the recording counts much in my
course, if I also consider that the recording is not opposed
to the alive music, that there is not for all to say not
contradiction between recorded music and alive music, the
concert is always a particular event in charge of emotions,
tensions, of theatricalness and sometimes of a differently
unthinkable happiness. Last 06 February took place the
concert of Emsemble de Mandolines and of Guitars with a
program which made the beautiful share with the music of
today, one will never insist enough on the urgency that
there is to make live this music, to make it leave the arena
of the initiates, of his allegedly intellectual prison.
Thank you with Jean-Claude directing Kieffer for the unit to
continue to give breath to a modernity which it is true
really the turning is worth. With the occasion in this
concert the allegro ritmico extracts from my ASSONANCE
Following summer given to the public in an interpretation
which allured the type-setter (your obliged) and '

Continuation by the Whole of mandolines and guitars of
Mulhouse - concert of February 06, 2005. March 05, 2005: My traditional formation not does not
enable me to claim to touch with accuracy the musics with
strong traditional prints. I miss the lived cultural ones
which constitutes the heart of the traditions, this flame
which as a mother tongue puts obviousness and poetry in the
language. But it does not matter my handicaps, I wanted to
pay homage so that I like so much, with these musics of
certain Spain heiress of the Arab Size. Concurrently to
that, I approach with an immense pleasure the study of the
oud and Eastern music, all alone since it is so difficult to
find Masters here. I thus propose to you to listen to the
result of my passions by two extracts: Tarantas

The festivals of guitar are not legions, the occasions are thus unfortunately too rare to be able to hear this instrument in concert. I announce the initiative of association GUIT' ARTS of Strasbourg, which every two years offers to us with the autumn a beautiful series of services. If the preceding festival were under the sign of the female guitar, - enchantement in any point of view -, this time, we were entitled to a mosaic guitar, a guitar at this mosaic point besides which it would be advisable to better speak about the guitars. Jazz, folklore of South America, baroque, traditional, almost all was there. I would more particularly say some words in the concert having taken place on November 11 in the Orphéon room of the TRIANGLE of Huningue. It joined together Antonello Lixi and Necati Celik . The Italian guitarist in a repertory of old music illustrated himself in some parts with the guitar baroque, and si' it is rare to hear the modern guitar in concert, it is it still more to hear the guitar baroque. It was thus a true pleasure of tasting with particular sonorities, with the very dynamic attacks and with beaten so clean with this instrument, Antonello Lixi gives us a lighting which fleure autenticity. Necati Celik with the oud, this Eastern lute not cousin of the guitar, but rather its ancestor shone as well in the improvisations in the written music. Its impressive virtuosity does not put less world at fault the music which delicacy with the emportements percussifs plays of all the emotions. It was well here about the oud in the point of view of the Turkish music, and I make a point of announcing that if the guitar is a mosaic instrument the oud it is not less; in the popular musics energy of Iran to Morocco by making the great difference between Greece and Spain, it is quite present in the basin méditérannéen. It accompanies the old songs sépharades, mixes with the guitar flamenco and today flirte with the jazz. A long carière for an instrument more than milénaire. Only one regret for this concert. It is about the use of amplification, I always take the party of a less sound volume and a better quality of the stamps. The small dimension of the room made possible the bet in a concert without amplification. It is not however this ridiculous nuisance which it is necessary to retain of the evening. |

Quelques mots pour évoquer le Don Giovanni donné hier soir dans la nef des Dominicains de Guebwiller. Je ne cache pas qu'il s'agit de mon opéra préféré de Mozart et que j'ai un faible pour le personnage de Leporello et tout particulièrement pour l'air de l'inventaire. Sous la direction de Jean-Marie CURTI et dans une mise en scène Serge LIPSZYC, ce Don Giovanni est sans surprise, sans mauvaise surprise vaut-il mieux dire, tout en délicatesse et dans le plus strict respect du classissisme mozartien, le jeu intelligent et explicite des chanteurs nous entraînent dans l'univers du grand séducteur, relégant le barrage de la langue (italienne) à la condition de détail. Un coup de chapeau à Olivier NAVEAU qui joue un magnifique Leporello plein d'humour, son air de l'inventaire a suscité un bel enthousiasme du public. En outre la décoratrice Sandrine LAMBLIN réussit le pari difficile de nous faire oublier la nef, tout en utilisant l'espace plein de caractère d'un lieu dont la vocation première n'est pas de s'ouvrir à l'opéra. Voilà bientôt deux ans que les Cahiers de la Guitare ont disparu des kiosques. L'espoir d'un éventuel retour de mon magazine favori, pour ne pas dire d'une réelle référence en matière de guitare était grand. J'avais peine à croire que ce monument ,qui a accompagné mes débuts d'apprentissage de l'instrument sans plus jamais me quitter, pourrait s'écrouler. Quel séisme aurait pu mettre à mal ce forum du monde de la guitare sous toutes ses formes - et elles sont nombreuses, quelle tempête ébranler ce théâtre qui diffusait jusque dans les provinces les plus reculées les nouvelles, les dépêches, les rencontres, les musiques de notre chère communauté de musiciens et de guitaristes? Un jour, j'ai mis mes doigts sur six cordes, j'ai rêvé des mondes nouveaux, j'ai mis mon nez dans les Cahiers de la Guitare; c'était il y a une quinzaine d'années. Trois mois entre deux numéros, c'était vraiment trop long. Chaque parution, un bonheur! Aujourd'hui, que nous reste-t-il? Un vide immense, une tristesse profonde et l'absence. L'absence des Cahiers de la Guitare. L'isolement, puisque le lien même qui nous réunissait à l'actualité a disparu. Je ne remercierai jamais assez Danielle Ribouillault et toute l'équipe des "Cahiers" de m'avoir guidé et de m'avoir permis de rêver si longtemps. Désormais plus rien ne sera pareil, une époque est révolue à moins que... les "Cahiers " ne nous reviennent. Cette absence n'est peut-être qu'un mauvais rêve. Emmanuel Rossfelder donnait un concert de guitare hier dans la cour du cloître des Dominicains de Guebwiller. S'il s'agit d'un lieu propice à la rêverie, au recueillement ou à la méditation, il n'en est pas moins l'endroit idéal pour se retrouver autour d'une guitare. Les vieilles pierres, le jardin disposé sans extravagances avec de petits massifs de buis et de rosiers aux fleurs blanches, le ciel bleu, la fraîcheur malgré la canicule; pas de doute, l'on avait pénétré dans un autre monde, et les soucis, les préoccupations et autre stress étaient restés au dehors. Le maître, lauréat de nombreux prix prestigieux que je n'énumérerai pas a donné le ton dès le début, mettant tout le public à son aise avec humour: non un concert, ce serait une rencontre, une rencontre entre lui et ses auditeurs. Et c'est en homme simple lançant des anecdotes et bousculant son programme suivant son inspiration, qu'il distilla le plaisir et le rêve. Un homme simple, un talent énorme! Un programme classique, interprété avec une générosité vraiment inhabituelle qui transcende complètement la virtuosité. Qui n'a pas rêvé de tout envoyer en l'air un jour, de prendre ses distances de manière définitive avec son boulot, sa femme, ses enfants? Rêvé de la liberté la plus égoïste qui soit? Enok, le héros si l'on peut dire de la maison de l'escargot n'a pas fait seulement qu'en rêver. Assonance suite, suite pour ensemble à plectres et guitares est achevée. Il s'agit bien de cette suite dont je parlais déjà en août dernier. Elle s'insprire librement de ce que l'on appelle à tort ou raison la musique minimaliste répétitive. On peut se rappeler que l'assonance est un procédé poétique qui consiste en la répétition de sons, ce procédé est ici appliqué à la musique avec pour enjeu essentiel de faire une musique pour les auditeurs. C'est-à-dire une musique dont la beauté ne touche pas en priorité l'intellect d'un petit nombre d'initiés mais les sens du plus grand nombre. Comme promis le mois dernier, voici quelques nouveautés qui concernent la guitare. Votre webemaster est heureux de les interpréter pour vous sur son instrument. Deux charmants branles de village que Robert Ballard retranscrit ici pour son édition de 1614; cette danse d'origine paysanne et française dont il existe des variantes plus élaborées que celles proposée rencontra à partir du XVI ème siècle un grand succès dans la plupart des cours d'Europe. On notera au passage tout le mérite de cette dynastie d'imprimeurs à laquelle Robert Ballard appartient qui mise à part la sauvegarde d'un patrimoine populaire a édité des compositeurs de première importance dont Janequin et Lassus. Robert Johnson quant à lui a été compositeur et luthiste, il nous laisse une vingtaine de pièces pour luth très agréables à jouer sur la guitare, il a aussi fournit de la musique pour quelques pièces de Shakespear. Alonso Mudara a été vihueliste à Séville, il nous laisse un magnifique recueil pour cette instrument si proche de la guitare qu'est la vihuela, il s'agit de "Tres libros de musica en cifras para vihuela". Il n'est pas facile de trouver des informations sur Santiago de Murcia, il n'y a probablement guère que les guitaristes pour s'intéresser à sa musique, je ne saurais en tout cas me passer de jouer ce très beau prélude. Je ne présente pas Astor Piazzola, il est incontournable de l'histoire de la musique quelle soit classique ou bien populaire, incontournable aussi de l'histoire de mon instrument, on n'échapera pas à l'occasion de se pencher sur sa suite de cinq pièces pour guitare créée à l'époque par Roberto Aussel. Enfin Baden Powell l'étoile brésilienne qui ne cesse de briller malgré sa disparition il y a presque trois ans jour pour jour, son charme, sa sensibilité, son sourire resteront longtemps dans nos mémoires. J'ai choisi deux rêveries vagabondes, deux bijoux en forme d'hommage et de remerciements pour tous les plaisirs et toutes les émotions qu'il nous laisse. Beaucoup de choses sont en préparation dont une partie sera disponible assez prochainement; tout le monde n'est pas en vacances, hélas pour moi. En attendant ces nouveautés qui enchanteront les amateurs de guitare, faites donc un tour du côté des Métamorphoses: une suite de six pièces pour orchestre avec des instruments solistes aussi divers que la clarinette, le hautbois, le violon, le violoncelle (dans l'adagio), la guitare aussi est de la partie, quoi de plus naturel? Six pièces aux caractères affirmés pour ne pas dire descriptifs, avec des contrastes, des envolées brillantes, des petits moments plus intimistes. L'orchestre à cordes y tient une belle place. Je travaille actuellement sur la musique minimaliste et répétitive, il faudra encore un peu de patience avant d'en voir-écouter le résultat. Les sonates pour clavecin sont maintenant disponibles au format mp3. En dépit de la compression, la qualité de l''instrument utilisé ici est meilleure que celle des instruments midi standard. Bien évidemment le temps de chargement est plus long, je fais toutefois autant que possible le compromis compression/qualité de sorte que les durées de chargements restent raisonnables en cas d'utilisation d'un modem 56k. |

Les temps sont durs en raison de la guerre qui se déroule actuellement! - même si ce site n'a pas vocation à traiter des sujets de politique internationale.
